My March Goals

Click here for my WWW Week 9 post.

My March Goals:
1. Drink 8 Bottles(16.9oz) of Water a day.

2. Workout 6 days a week; at least 3 days at the gym.

3. Eat at home 95% of meals.

4. Make an honest (not the lazy lack of effort I have been giving it) effort to save money.

5. I am starting the month at 249lbs. I would like to be in the 220's by the end of March. (the 2teens would be AWESOME!!!)

Bonus Goal: Run a 5K. No matter how long it takes me to run/jog 3.2 miles, I want to do this by the end of March to see how it feels and to see how much I improve by the Zooma Austin 5K!
I am looking forward to March. I am also looking forward to striving for these goals!

P.S. My hubby went back on nights this week and I miss him. :(

WWW Week 9

Life's Journey with a Smile

I want to be in one of these this summer!!!

1. What have you done this past week to help you achieve your goals?
I started Couch to 5K training program. I also have quit eating beef for now (btw its not easy in TX) EDIT: We also received our tax return and PAID OFF $2140 in debt!!! I am so excited. It puts quite a chunk of change back in our budget a month to throw at the rest of the debt. VERY HAPPY ABOUT THIS!!!

2. Today's the last day of the month - how do you feel you've done in February?
The beginning and middle of February I was lazy and un motivated. I began to get       re-motivated near the end of February. I am hoping that March will be a much better month. The warmer weather will hopefully get me outside for workouts. I am excited for MARCH and spring break from school.

3. What is your go-to favourite meal to cook? Share the recipe if possible!
Chicken Italiano. Pasta, grilled chicken, pizza sauce and mozzerella cheese. Preferably with broccoli or green beans.

4. Share a quote or saying that is inspiring you today.
Today I am not sure. My favorite quote is "Single minded to the point of wrecklessness." Bee from
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
"Why choose to fail when success is an option?" Jillian Michaels

5. Fun Question of the Week: What's your make-up routine? Wear any? Lots? Do you have a must-have?
I attempt to wear makeup on days that I have class and for church. I use Mary Kay and not alot. I do subtle
make up. My must have from Mary Kay is the TimeWise Cleanser and Moisturizer. And I love their lipsticks.
Summary: Super happy about the debt pay off and the beginning of March!!!

WWW Week 8

Life's Journey with a Smile

Positive Pic: My friend swinging my son at the park. Don't worry we didn't do that too long... he started turning pink in about 20 minutes. Poor child got his Momma's fair skin. :(
San Antonio-20110221-00581.jpg

1. What have you done this past week to help you achieve your goals?
Last week I don't remember doing much to help achieve my goals except for planning out what we are going to do with our tax return and focusing on school work.
2. Pretty much everywhere this past week experienced some mild weather...did this change have any effect on you? Yes it reminded me that summer is coming and here in Texas its going to be HOT HOT HOT and I DO NOT want to be stuck in jeans again for a whole summer. I want to be able to wear shorts and skirts and swimsuits and not be self conscious(embarrassed) about my legs(and stomach and arms and butt). Anyway basically it reminded me about summer.
3. Walk us through your ideal workout.
An ideal workout for me would be one that combines running and strength training in one. Or a cardio and strength training combined workout. And ABS.
4. What happened in the last week that you to brag about?
My husband and I went on a date to the rodeo!!! It was the first time we had been on date in about 6 months. It was awesome!!! We saw Miranda Lambert in concert. I love her.
5. Fun question of the week: Spring Fever has hit the stores... What's your favorite thing to shop for in spring? Flip flops?... hopefully this spring/summer I can add to that list.

Alright well that's my week 8!

Couch to 5K Day ONE

Day 1 of Couch to 5K went very well. My husband went with me. He is also training for the 5K that I am planning to do. We are not sure if my husband is running the 5K with me or just supporting me in training and at the race. Speaking of the 5K I never did tell ya'll about it. It is the ZOOMA Women's Race Series. I am doing the one in Austin. It is a half marathon and 5K. I am very excited!!! And I can't wait to get my new running shoes soon. Asics or Brooks not sure yet! Any suggestions??? Oh yeah if you are thinking of starting the couch to 5k program make sure you use the podcast available on itunes.
Hugs,

Determination

Determination: the act of coming to a
decision.

The act of coming to a decision....
I have come to a decision...
I am going to do this and I am going to succeed at losing weight and getting fit.
I will become the healthy person I want to be... that I deserve to be.

Awhile back while I was at the gym, I typed this on my phone:
I'm here at the gym on the exercise bike, people watching and looking at the healthy fit people and suddenly the thought occurs that I AM WORTH the time, effort, sweat, blood and tears that this takes. I will accomplish my goals in 2011. I will be what I have envisioned for myself for years.

I have a friend who works 2 jobs, is in a master's program, is married and has a almost 2 year old and she squeezes in time to workout. If she can do it I CAN DO IT. I have no job, I am in school but only part time, I am also married and have an almost 2 year old. I will make time for exercise. I want better health and I choose to take care of myself before I am no longer able to do so because of weight!!! I am 23 years old, will be 24 in 79 days.
79 days of fitness and eating smart to change my life for the better.
And 79 days will be just the beginning....
It's a new day, a new chance, a new life and I am SEIZING it!!!!
Who else wants to seize a new life???

WWW Week 6

Life's Journey with a Smile

San Antonio-20110204-00531.jpg
My baby boy's footprints in the snow (first snow since 1986 i think)!!!

  1. What have you done this past week to help you achieve your goals? Sadly, nothing this past week. It was a very long, rough week.
  2. New month! Fresh starts! How are you feeling in February? I am hoping February is better than January. I don't really feel more motivated I mostly just feel sleepy.
  3. Are you competitive? Do you find that seeing how well {or not so well} others do pushes you? When I see other people succeeding it does motivate me however it also can make me feel like a failure...
  4. What is your favourite outdoor winter activity? {Southerners can answer winter if they visit the snow, or just what you like to do outside}? I like to walk outside and if I had a bicycle I would like to do that. As far as winter sports goes in south Texas there isn't much actual winter weather so I don't know.
  5. Fun Question of the Week: What would be your ideal way to spend a Saturday night? Reading by a fire with no interruptions.
Just really not feeling motivated at all right now. I'm not really feeling anything. I don't feel hungry, thirsty or even feel the need to move at all. I just feel like sleeping. I feel numb. Any suggestions on how to get out of this feeling?

WWW Week 5

So I am super late in posting this but here is Winter Wonderland Warriors Week 5.
Life's Journey with a Smile

I don't have a picture to put up this week. Onto the questions!
1. What have you done this past week to achieve your goals?  I tried Bikram yoga #8 done on my goal list. YAY! Trying the yoga forced me to keep up with my water drinking. i tried something new and it shook the routine (or lack thereof) up.
2. January is coming to an end. How do you think you did in the month of January? Review Time!!!
         1. Run 5K on February 12th FAIL. I haven't trained for the 5K and I won't be participating. I will find a  new 5K to plan for.
         2. Lose 30lbs. Gained 6 of 9lbs lost back. So I am technically still in the right direction but I need to STEP IT UP.
         3. Stop spending un-necessarily. FAIL again. Need to re-commit to spending only on necessities.
         4. Continue spending fast for 1 year. We still have a chance at completing this just will have to go through March of next year.
         5. Save $250. This was actually accomplished until my car needed a brake job :(. But oh well. We will definitely succeed at this one with our tax return if we don't accomplish it beforehand.
         6. Pay down debt. We have paid one off. However we will pay more off with out tax return. Hopefully at least a couple more before the tax return comes.
         7. STOP drinking soda. FAIL. its just not happening yet.
         8. Use Bikram Yoga groupon. DONE!!!!!!
         9. Learn to cook veggies. I have learned a couple new ways.... not exactly healthy but I'm trying.
       10. Workout 6 consecutive days. Still working on it.
3. Do you feel like your motivation is tapering off now that a month has passed, or are you just as motivated as the beginning of the challenge? My motivation is waning for sure. I need a good swift kick in the pants to push me to keep going.
4. Who/what inspires you to keep going? My son. And what would be a healthy heart and of course cute clothes and possible a BIKINI someday.
5. Fun Question of the Week:  What is the first thing you think of/do in the morning? I think "Its too early" and i get my son up and changed and fed.
